What to Expect We are looking for a highly motivated and “hands-on” individual to join our Mechanical Assembly Team for the assembly of a new generation of high speed, automated manufacturing equipment. The role includes interpreting mechanical drawings and pneumatic schematics, mechanical assembly of machine components, machining of parts, machine mechanical start-up, testing and debug, and some travel for machine installation and commissioning support. Shift: 7:00AM - 3:30PM. When the shop is running mandatory overtime, hours are from 6:00AM - 4:30PM. Hours at other locations may vary depending on their hours of operation. Employees must provide their own basic set of hand tools. What You’ll Do Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings including assembly drawings and detail component drawings, as well as assembly of precision machine components with some machining of parts (milling and turning) as required for assembly of custom engineered automated machinery Mechanical systems testing and debug (i.e. diagnoses trouble or defects, determines corrective action and repairs system)., systems commissioning, installation and troubleshooting of machines on-site Assemble and install equipment at other Tesla locations (up to 40% of the time) Interface with project team (i.e. Controls Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Assemblers, Project Manager, etc.) Perform system checkout and assists in automation systems startups for service installed jobs Provide status updates to management on assigned projects Other duties may be assigned to support the needs of the business What You’ll Bring 5+ years of proven experience in assembly of custom automated machinery, as well as very strong analytical and troubleshooting of mechanical systems skills Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic schematics Familiar with basic hand tools, basic measuring tools (Vernier, micrometers, height gauge etc.) to tolerances of .001”, and machine shop equipment (lathe/mill/surface grinder/drill press) Must be a self-starter, team player, work well with others, and have a positive attitude Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues, report, repair and/or correct the issues with minimal supervision Must be able and willing to travel and work at other Tesla locations Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Account) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High Deductible Aetna medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $31.64 - $40.36/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
